Machined Component Availability

Challenge

Precision machined parts required to support the customer’s build schedules. The customer did not want to invest working capital in their stock to protect their assembled order reliability. The lead times required were very short and the quality demanded very high. They were looking for a partner who could meet all these requirements.

Solution

Agreed to hold stock and for the customer to order with short lead times. The stock was managed using the MTA principle of Theory of Constraints managed on Ropeweaver. This allowed us to hold small stock quantities yet still achieve 100% availability of parts. We were also able to better use our production equipment by capitalising on spreading the set-up time over more production parts.

Benefits

A 100% delivery performance with short lead times and no investment in working capital for the customer.
